For Friday Feb 27

Thank goodness February is such a short month?

I will not be able to predict the condition of the field for Friday morning, so I hope you will get an opportunity to launch.  Speaking with Jason and Sarah today, it would seem there is a fair chance that the field will be useable.

Friday morning winds at mountaintop are forecast at 290 at 24 mph, just shy of the magic 25.  In the past, 18 has worked.  Further, a strong temperature inversion at 9,000 lies in the NOAA data as well.  There is an appropriate wind gradient all the way up and with dry air; visibility should be a sparkling 10 miles for your viewing pleasure.

Cloud cover’s current prognostication is about 50% so that is something I will tackle in an update later (as when the algorithm runs).

Also, expect some thermal activity around the field in the afternoon to about 3,000 AGL.  This speaks to the importance of getting to the wave as early as possible since thermals can disrupt wave quality.

Just remember that during wave camp, morning means sunrise!
